Distribution of the brutes' levels on COM

Here are some more stats for the COM website.

The two charts below show the number of brutes at a given level and the number of brutes above a certain level.
Bins of 10 levels were used, so for example:

• first chart: the value you can read for the number of brutes at level 180 means the number of brutes between 180 and 189,
  
• second chart: the value you can read for the number of brutes above level 180 means the number of brutes with a level higher or equal to 180.

Source of data: data scraping from mybrute COM website rankings.

There may be many routes... in my case just some plain VBA: the whole process of scraping data and creating the charts can be fully automated with less than 50 lines of code.

Forgot to tell one last interesting number: there are 9'768 brutes on COM that are level 23 or higher, and 3'491 at level 23 alone...

I'd have to do an internet search just to know what VBA stands for, so yeah, while I appear to know things, it's only because it's things I've learned from others so far. could you also say just how many brutes there are in total on COM, including all levels (you don't need to say how many at each level if you don't want to), or would that take too much time/computer memory?

In fact I can only produce accurate statistics for brutes above the lowest level of the padawan top-1500 ranking, that is above level 22 at the moment.
I cannot tell the exact number of brutes on COM, FR or ES. But I can produce an estimate by scraping the number of pupils of each brute that is listed in the TOP-1500 for each title.
This is probably a lower bound to the total number of brutes because it ignores all brutes below level 22-23 (at the moment). However, those brutes do not have that much (XP) pupils so that they may not account for a big proportion of the whole number of brutes. Moreover this approximation counts in all brutes that may be deleted because it only downloads the raw number of pupils.

Doing this for the TOP-1000 brutes on COM gives the following rounded lower bound for the total number of pupils:

19'300'000 pupils

This probably catches about 90% of the total number of brutes which I therefore expect to be about 22 millions.

On the basis of this thread alone, I have allocated you a custom rank Sioc.

It should show up next time you post (don't think forumotion displays them retrospectively). Give it a try .....

There seems to be a mistake in the first graph of 11th of May, Sioc.
It doesn't show a single one at level 600 and there are three of them since seven minutes.

I made the chart just a few hours ago when Biceuri was still at level 599.
In order to avoid stretching too much the distribution (which would make it unreadable) the chart is cut at level 600 and bins are 10-level wide. Therefore there is indeed no brute in the level-600 bin which corresponds to brutes between level 600 and 609. On the other hand, the other chart that gives the cumulative distribution shows indeed some brutes above level 600.
So no mistake this time ;-)

Time for an update again.

Just noticing that in April 2010 there were about 40 brutes above level 300.
Now there are about 70 (almost twice as much, about half a year later).

And the number of brutes above level 400 more than doubled (going from 16 to 38).
