| I can't for the life of me find the thread where this came up, but we were discussing the implications of getting pets before vs. after vitality. I have a brute that gains vitality and a few levels later gets a wolf.
http://labrute.muxxu.com/b/19717
Her endurance is 134 at level 9, and drops to 81 at level 10, a loss of 53 points. Because she gets 1 point of endurance for having an even-numbered levelup, it's actually 54 endurance points that it costs her.
I had been getting my info on this from Twinpedia, which says I should have only lost 36 points for this wolf. So why the difference? A "point" of endurance is normally 6 points, so when you take a levelup bonus of +3 Endurance, you gain 18 endurance points. Vitality increases this to 9 points, so a +3 Endurance boost gets you 27 points of endurance. Their figure of -36 comes from an assumption that the wolf costs you -4 Endurance, but in my case it has clearly taken -6 Endurance ( 6 x 9 = 54).

| "Acquérir une panthère réduit l'endurance de sa brute de 6 points, soit 36 points de vie, 54 si vous avez la compétence Vitalité, 90 si vous avez la compétence Immortel, et 135 si vous avez Vitalité + Immortel. " That's what I see in Twinpedia^^. Where's the problem? You lose 36x1,5=54 because of vita. Kitty would lose 48 hp for a dog, 135 hp for a wolf and 192 hp for a bear. | |

| Pets are bad news if you have immortal or vitality. It sucks but it is true. | |

Kitty would lose 48 hp for a dog, 135 hp for a wolf and 192 hp for a bear. It says that in Twinpedia because I just edited it!

| Ah ok ! I almost never go to Twinpedia so I can't guess if this or that is your work^^". But I am not sure about all these figures. It was a long time ago but when Kitty had a bear, I wonder if I did not lose more than 72 hp. It's more a reminiscence but I think Kitty had 245 hp and dropped to 130, which would be a loss of 115 hp for the bear. It was a double shock to have a bear and such a massive loss of hp lvl 16. (Kitty wasn't immortal in her youth, just full of vitality ) | |

| Tama, that points to another error in Twinpedia. If your recollections are correct, that means you lost 117 points of life (gaining 2 back from leveling) divided by 9 for vitality means a loss of -13 Endurance, not -8! So under that number, you'd lose 78 normally, 117 with vitality, 195 with immortal, and a whopping 292.5 with immortal and vitality both! | |

Thanks. It's probably better to continue the discussion here rather than threadjack the rate thread.

| Case study : Tsukihime I have taken a new subpath involving pets. My dear Tsuki was born with 62 hp. Lvl 2 I took dog B and my HP became 51 (which is probaly a minimum) : 12 hp loss. Lvl 3 I took a trident (love trident^^) and my hp rise a little bit to 53. Lvl 4 I took another doggy (A) and... I won 1 hp Consecuently, the hp mecanism with pets is not really easy to understand. It would maybe mean that the minimum hp changes with level or the calculation of hp loss changes according to the number of pets... :?: | |

| I think the minimums throw a little wrench into things. First of all, even levels give you 1 life and odd levels give you 2 life. So at level 2 your life dropped to 50, then it added 1. My guess about the second dog is that your life can't be further lowered if it's already below a certain point, perhaps 62. So your second dog did not make you lose life points. I wonder if the same trick would work with dog followed by bear, say you got a dog and then at level 6 you're back up to life 60, take a bear, and don't lose anything? | |

| i dont have a Problem reading this, but i doubt that my Decission wether to take a First or second or third Dog once offered will be affected by losing much Health Points or even winning more. and off course refusing a Panther or a Bear is kind of "out of the Question" so unless you guys realy want to find out the Formula for this, which imo does not exist , you need to post Fights before and after . and i know only 2 brutes with 2 Dogs and a Bear. or 1 Dog and 1 Panther... so good Luck finding some even with Immo | |

| does getting a pet only affect existing endurance, or does it permanently nerf all future endurance bonuses too?
for those of you who played high level DOTCOM brutes, at what point does having a lot of pets (acting as meat shields) really help you more than it hurts? Like a pet at level 1-7 (Helps!) level 7-20 (Meh?) level 20-200 (hurts!) level 200+ (helps!)
I mean, when everyone does 500 dmg a hit, there is no effective difference between the pets, they just absorb what would be a killing blow to you, so at that point having -400 endurace due to the affect of having pets isn't such a big deal, but before that point it is annoying. Where is that point?
I would never take a pet with an immortal brute.
