I've had a lot of weapons offered more than once if not chosen (even 3 times in a row Shocked ) but, has any one been offered a skill a 2nd time??? I am asking because I just realized that I keep passing up "strong arm" with Thylacin @ lvl. 11 not realizing that it affects halbeard :oops: . If chosen I would sacrifice "increavable", "impact", and "6th sense". I'm pretty sure the knife, stone hammer, trident, and epee will be offered again, and at least 2 of those would benefit (stone hammer and epee). I guess I'm asking "is it worth it"?

(note: Rico this might be a "brute destiny" question, please move it as you see fit... oh, and I would love your input too!!!)

Okay, after Matis33s first response I realize that this SHOULD be in the "brute destiny" thread. This said, Rico please move it and, even though it's late in the game for Thylacin' I would like everyones input.

p.s. Mantis, I to appreciate your input, and it helped me realize that this is a destiny thread. Though, I don't believe "repeat skills" has ever been addressed.

1- as an answer to your question: of course it is based on luck, it is just a random algorithm. and basicly all Skills or weapons could be offered more than once in 2 diffrent paths in the same Destiny
but it is more likly that in the random function the chances of every Skill getting picked are diffrent.
for example:
Extra Thick Skill would be listed 10 times,
Brute fierce 8 times,
bolt, feline, herculean or vitality 8 times
6th sense 6 times,
shield 6 times.
Net 4 times,
.......
Impact 2 times
untouchable 1 time
implacable 1 time

now the program wants to randomly pick any skill from this List , you will have more chances of getting extra than getting Net... and so on....

btw RicoRico got the "LEEK" in 2 diffrent sub-paths offered Shocked . so there is no doubt about a similar implementation of this Algorithm.

2- now about thinking of talking strong Arm, you missed your chance of talking this sub-path in Dentist, so if i would cosider it, it would be because i want to try a sub-path hoping for a better Destiny not because "Strong Arm" itself is great with heavy weapons like halbard.
Strong Arm only decreases the slowing initiative 25% when you draw heavy weapons.

by the way why do you want the knife, epee and stone hammer so badly for her , they are not the best choice for a counter-shield imo

btw we dont know yet is you get to reset to lvl1 again after you win a tour in BL, if so, you might get your chance after all :)

P.S ( you could rename and use this thread for discussions about Thylacin if you want to) if so i will move it to the brutes sub-forum, otherwise in skils sub-forum)

my thought always was: a different path is not a different destiny... that means if MT or muxxu KNOW what that word destiny means, a brute should always end up the same, no matter which path you take... the question only is at which level that happens.

and compared to mybrute at level 150-200 (latest) there will be only stat- uplevels. until then you should have the biggest bunch of all available skills for that destiny. of course there still appears one or another skill, but not like in low levels where almost every level or let's say every second level you're offered a skill.

so would i t be safe to say we could apply a "Jelly Bean Hypothesis" to this? That is: you have a large bowl of jbs. Different skills, weapons, pets, and power-ups are assigned different colors and exist in different ratios based on rarity. Your destiny is but a scoop of these in which not all jbs(ie skills, pets, etc..) may be represented. If you change your path you simply shake your jbs and thereby the order they appear. If you choose a new destiny you return your jbs to the original bowl and take a new scoop that may or may not contain different jbs. So on a long enough time line with infinite different paths but the same scoop, your brute would always turn out the same.

i dont think they programed the version2 "muxxu" like this. i read in the french site of muxxu (all games in MT) that the 10 Team of muxxu who implemented the labrute.muxxu.com ( http://www.motion-twin.com/team ) wanted to give the player the choice to build his own character by being able to rank up step after step and explore for a better path, not like in mybrute register and hope to catsh a big fish...
tbh we will never know because no one will lvl up the same brute to lvl 100 or 200....and then reset him and then lvl him again to lvl100 or 200 but with a diffrent path.

but the option of being able to reset after winning a tour in BL will allow anyone to test it.
i think it is just a random new destiny from every point of a sub-path you take...

My latest example : squelette offered twice in a row on Jaeha.
Possible and just random.

Imo, I won't give up increvable for gros-bras... Not worth it. And I'm not sure you'll can reset your brute in BL. People are fed up with leveling up the same way.
Even if it's possible, I don't want to use this function. 🐱

I don't think so rico... why then call it destiny and why then giving players the choice same or another destiny. if the destiny would change after taking another path the whole destiny thing would be useless because you could change destinies via pathchange...

but okay, we'll never know so it's all theories...

to be hoenst i hope you are right,
i am just thinking as a programmer who is thinking in a mathmatical logic way of setting rules for a game like this.
but dont give my opinion any intention , it is only theories about the mechanism of a games and its complexity which we are learning in the universaty... very diffrent from reality...

and dont get me started on "every brute allways has the same destiny" i am suffering with one of my brutes because of his diffrent paths
look at these 5 diffrent path i took for the same brute. all paths are at lvl20 or lvl21

All the destinies in one ? Not logical at all. The game was created to use builds. Its main interesting consists in building what you think in your head. If it's all the same, it's not interesting. Furthermore, this flash game is typically a binomial problem. (reminds me a Monte Carlo simulation) All paths are more or less independent.

I have some brutes who have polar opposite destinies. Kitty used to be a Forza... 🐱
No jelly bean bowl for me, I'm on a diet. Razz

Yeah, there's a lot to that. But it's usually the more common skills that you see repeated, like peau and 6eme. Not sure how it'll work with rarer skills like increvable, but choc seems to be fairly common.

But if the Jelly Beans theory is right - then I am sure there is a way to check out what can be offered in total.
As in first version each brute ID had a certain things given at levelups (so if it had given certain id - he grew in that order only) - here each brute ID (or any other implementation) would give a pool of choices for a certain brute. A random factor is only the order you get those things offered... But that also mean that if your destiny is not to have MA or Implacable or anything else - no matter how many paths do you explore - you wont get it and it is not matter of your bad luck or disability to choose good path - it simply isnt there for this brute.

Also that would make mybrutes 2 not entirely different from ver1 - and I think it is less to program and saves developers a lot of trouble (also I always thought mybrute1 is just a checkup for the company to collect data on playing features and ideas on tweaking the game up to make second version when they would tweak things up and ask for money from players who want to proceed up faster - which they totally just did!). So in matter of destinies I would turn toward the jelly beans theory (and if you look at mybrutes 1 - each brute had the destiny of their own - but they could not escape from it even for few levelups - so this theory is a more elaborate (complicated) destiny took from mybrute ver1).



ANd Knowing which theory is right would be such big help! I guess asking developers of the game is out of the question... Rolling


And I always wondered why the option to change destiny is even there??? because it was enough just to choose the 2nd choice on first levelup to get different destiny and all the different choices.



Well, IF the jelly beans theory is right - maybe it is better to choose worse weapons on low levels - because they are usually common and from one side they will help you level up faster at low levels and on the other hand if you choose them they would never again apperar and you would have more place for drawing something better each levelup.


I whish there was a way to verificate that theory...
