PostSubject: What is more important for a successful brute?   Thu 04 Feb 2016, 16:49

As you know i am re-starting playing again. I played some years ago but just for fun.
So, i made some brutes (4 or 5) in each server... i opted to choose brutes with bears or phanters beacuse they would level up faster.

But in the long run what do you thnik it is more important for a successful brute? To have:

- Bears and Phanters?
- High agility?
- Many skills/specialities?

I am still learning and would appreciate any advice you could give.

Thanks

There are too many random aspects that you can't really tell what way would have been best.

It depends on level.

At low levels (like <20) a bear or wolf is usually a big advantage.

At mid levels (20-50) the bear and wolf are still helpful. But less so. It usually helps to have high strength at these levels.

At mid-high levels (50-70) pets are less important. They are more of a distraction to stop you taking hits than anything else. Agility becomes more important, but high strength (combined with the right skills) is still very useful.

At high levels (100+) agility is normally king. Pets are a slight distraction. Good strength is useful of course, but high agility is the key to consistent success.

Thats just levels, pets and stats. Skills obviously play a key part as well.

You really want (at most levels):

A decent anti-pet skill. Especially a lower levels. (Hypno or Cry of the Damned) Net and bomb are better than nothing, but a poor second choice compared to the first two.
Untouchable/Implacable. Dodge hits. Make hits. Whats not to like!

They are the key skills in my book. After them, there are other important ones.

Vitality. More HP = good! Even better combined with tragic potion. (But Immortal, except in a few cases, is not so good. Big HP boost - hopefully, not always - but big dent in stats = not good. Good immortals are rare.)
All the protection skills - Armour/Thick Skin/Shield. Important at all levels. Moreso at low levels.
Then probably survival. So you can take that one extra hit to hang on at the end of a fight.

After that? Take your pick ....

Thanks guys!

Bob, amazing evaluation!
Didn't know that strength was that important (after agility), i would think that speed was more important because it would give you the possibility to hit more blows, and thus make more damage. But always learning Wink

At lower levels, with a strength brute, high speed can help. (as can tornado of blows, pugnacious etc)

But the other two are more important. As is having reasonable HP at lower levels. You can't dodge as much, so being able to take some hits is obviously helpful.

Yep, Bob's assessment is on the money, there is at least one other thread (likely more) where I remember a healthy discussion about the most important skills and stats to have and the general consensus was that high agility was what you wanted, bonus if you get that combined with untouchable, especially as you get to higher levels. And as Bob said, high speed actually isn't that important, unless it's combined with a good skill set, and then probably only at mid/mid-high levels, like 40-70 or so.

To me, the best fun to be had is from fights in the 200-500 range. This is where there are 3 good brutes each with their own strengths and weaknesses: High str brutes, Hyper-Agi's, and the right Immo's. Before, levels are lower and a brute can't really be "complete". After, as Bob said, AGI becomes the be-all-end-all.

It´s hard to choose which brutes to evolve, because without pupils it's almost impossible to reach 100+
I am currently choosing pupils that i think might be good between 20 and 50, because i don't have the time to train all of them, so i have to make choices

I'm training 3 that should be fairly good in the 30-40 range. Hopefully...
