Got my Blu e-cigs Empty
PostSubject: Got my Blu e-cigs   Got my Blu e-cigs Icon_minitimeThu 06 Aug 2009, 07:59

My Blu-Cigs finally came in. Ordered over a month ago, they charged my credit card and emailed me that it'd atleast be 2 weeks. LOL, thought I might have been scammed. Later noticed their site wasn't taking new orders since they were so swamped with back orders. But over a month later, they finally came in today.

It's kind of cool. One of the batteries is already charged to play with right away. End glows blue as you puff, and when you exhale the water vapor looks like real smoke. But I'm fully charging the recharge pack now (looks like a cig pack). And can even charge the individual batteries (cigs) in your computer's USB port. Heh, perfect for those at the office.

Here's a more detailed product overview:

Will these help me stop real smoking? Don't know yet. But will have fun with these at work tomorrow.

If you are anything like me they will.

Last real cig I had was in February.

Have been using e-cigs since then.

After a while, the urge to use the e-cig is much less. If you don't e-cig, it's not the same as missing a real cig.

MUCH cheaper to use/run that reals cigs (about 10% of the cost in the UK).
You don't stink.
Your senses of smell and taste come back.
My smokers cough went within a week.
You feel MUCH better for it.

Go for it I say. Just make sure you stick with them. :)

If you already smoke then yes, they're good.

If DON'T already smoke you'd still be stupid to start using these.

I smoked for over 20 years. Only managed to give up once before when I lasted about 7 months.

Have tried many times since then and never lasted more than a week or two. Since using e-cigs I haven't touched, or wanted after the first couple of days, a readl cigarette since February. So thats 6 months, and it's been easy .... REALLY easy.

The first couple of days on it, it didn't feel *quite* as good as a normal cig. If a normal cig was 10 out of 10, an e-cig (for me anyway) was maybe a 7 or an 8. Which was close enough. Once I got through the first two days of total change over, it was easy.

Best thing about the e-cigs, is they work when I'm out on the beer. Thats where I normally fell over when I tried to stop before. A few beers and I'd cave in and buy a packet of tabs. But with the e-cig, it keeps me happy with beers as well .... which is a HUGE plus.

Cost wise, it works out that it costs be *roughly* 50p a day to use th e-cig. When I was smoking real cigs it was costing me nearer £5 a day. So it cuts the cost by about 90% for me. I tend to buy 100 refill carts for it and a bottle of the liquid and top them up myself. That seems to be the most cost effective route for me.

Thanks for the encouragement Bob. Well, my intentions was to not quit cold turkey, but as a replacement for places where unable to smoke (which is constantly growing). But think I'll try what you suggested. This is much better than expected. I've been smoking since high school, and only quit about 3 months while in Boot Camp. In otherwords, I've never really tried quitting before. I'll admit, I enjoy smoking.

My credit card was charged $59.95. Comes with the charger pack, two batteries, only one atomizer, and an assortment of flavors of nicotine. 5 different sets, with 5 filters each. Their site gives info of how long they should last but I forgot. What matters is how long they'll last for me. And I'll just have to buy more nicotine stuff and possible a replacement atomizer (unknown how long they'll last). So no idea if this is a good deal compared to others, but it is still cheaper than cigarettes. Even in my state which hasn't gone as rampant with the tax increases as others.

When picking the flavors, felt like I was in a candy store. Menthol, Java, Vanilla, Cherry, and the good ole Full Flavor. Wanted to try a sample of each for future purchases. I'm trying the full flavor now. There's a slight sweetness to it. And thank goodness it's not like diet aftertaste sweet.

Rant

Surgeon General warnings have been on cigarettes before 99% of the people here were born. As if these warnings actually did any good. Duh, it's not good for you. Don't you think it's silly to put a warning just for those already intending to smoke them?

Well, recently they passed new legislation to put even bigger warnings, lol. Which they said will need to require a new department, of course, this will cost millions or billions for more tobacco control. What ever. It got passed. It's more money easily taken from those addicted. Democracy in action, mob rules, same thing.

Remember, none of that money from tobacco tax is used to help smokers quit. Could have given free/reduced nicotine patches or something out of those Billions. These e-cigs are going to be awesome for people to quit, or atleast swtich to a much much more healthier habit. Hell, the government should use a bit of the taxes they've taken from us to help promote it. But instead, they use the FDA to criticize it (while they support pharmaceutical companies doing Nicotine alternatives that costs much much more than cigarettes and is more harmful). Damn Hippocrites.

I just went total cold turkey.

Felt a bit odd, but not unbearable, for a couple of days and fine ever since. My other half was also a long time smoker. She did the same (we quit same day) and switched over totally. She then stopped the e-cig after a couple of months and hasn't looked back since. She doesn't mind me using the e-cig still as it's way cheap compared to real cigs and doesn't stink the house out!

You want to have a spare atomizer lying about. I'd recommend buying at least one spare. I find they last 4 to 8 weeks but have had one stop working after only a couple of weeks. They are the bit that does all the hard work so they don't last all that long.

The initial cost is the biggest expense by far. Once you work out what strength/flavour of cartridge you like, just get some refills and some liquid as topping them up yourself is the cheapest way to go. I also found the top-up liquid has a more defined flavour (I use menthol) than the pre-filled ones.

I can see where you are coming from on the tax front as well. Slightly different here in the UK where at least we have the NHS so a proportion of tax raised on cigarettes goes to that. Despite all the moaning from non-smoker about smokers getting treated on the NHS ... most don't realise that smoker contribute MASSIVELY more in tax than the cost in NHS treatment.

In the US though, no free healthcare for all so it's a slightly different argument .....

Horses for courses I guess.

Also depends how much you want to quit the real cigs in the first place.

I had over 20 years smoking under my belt and 6 months in I find the e-cig is doing a great job.
