I don't mean to be a traitor, but daaaayyyuuum Google Chrome is awesome!
I just downloaded it to see how it was and it's basically like my Fox, just a lot faster :O

Yep, not just a little bit, but very noticeably faster :)
Opens instantly.

It has features that I missed from Opera when I switched to Firefox, like being able to move around the tabs. Even off to make a new window.

Some cool additions is when open a new tab, it shows thumbnails of past sites that you've visited, that you can select:
I like it so much that I've set it as my homepage.

I'm sure we've all accidentally closed the wrong tab, now can just right click any tab to restore it... or use what it is shown above.

It uses the same bar for search and URLs. It's pretty smart in guessing what you want as you type in it, like showing a past history of sites you've visited related to it, to even doing a specific search. Like if I type youtube stsin, one of the options that shows up is to search for stsin on YouTube.com.

Imports previous browser settings easy enough. And can have it sync not only with other instances of Chrome, but other browsers too....though I haven't tested that out yet.

Also latest version includes a built in translator. Pops up when detecting a different language than own, asking to translate the whole page. Does it almost instantly. And then automatically translates the pages as you go through the rest of that site. I still suggest using the google translator extension for Chrome though, since it has extra features and can force it to translate any page. And shows original text when hovering mouse over it.

anyway, used to use IE until I got used to Firefox, and now can't see using anything else. Very Happy

Well, there is Incognito Mode:

Webpages that you open and files downloaded while you are incognito aren't recorded in your browsing and download histories.

All new cookies are deleted after you close all incognito windows that you've opened.

I suggest that to the person whom said they had a nosy sister.

idk, I still have my doubts as to Google's intentions, hard for me to believe any corp that size has their customers best interests in mind. I'm sure whatever is posted or written is still stored in their db somewhere. not paranoid, but just due to their recent history not completely at ease. Wink

Yep. I was suggesting it to the person who had a nosy sister using Chrome on the same computer....and for anyone else worried about their saved history and cookies.

Back to Google tracking:

Well, since Chrome still does a bit of tracking even with the options turned off, I've been looking at other Chrome alternatives since I like it so much.

Chromium is a developer's open source that Google Chrome uses:

Source is supposedly without the tracking, but I don't have the needed apps to compile the source.

So another option is SRWare Iron:
http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron_chrome_vs_iron.php
It's also from Chromium's open source, with some privacy additions.
Testing it now. Using all the Chrome addons, extensions, and plugins. Also trying a more recent version of Chromium than Chrome is currently using, v 5.0.326.0
So far, so good. Able to use the same addons as I was with Chrome.

Check out SRWare Iron if want Chrome performance without the Google tracking.

Can change the user directory similar to Chrome too, by editing the Shortcut Target like so:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\SRWare Iron\iron.exe" --enable-extensions --user-data-dir="S:\cache\Chromium"


Edit: don't try v5.0+ yet. Noticed some differences and glitches.
