| sam!! the db has been gone.. i have copy but it only contains 750 pupils!!!
is system restore will fix it?
i just copied the other db and pasted on it!! i thought it will be ok!!

| yes, as mentioned in another thread, when you copy over a file, it may be rewritten on your HD in the same location as the old one, making it irretrievable... other than that, from what I recall, you need specialized software to recover lost data. updating by replacing only works if it is a true update. because otherwise it is just a replacement:
file 1: x pupils
replaced by x+y pupils = x+y pupils, so none are lost because it is a true update.
file 2: x pupils
replaced by y pupils = y pupils, so all of x are lost.
windows isn't smart enough to guess you might want to merge data, and instead assumes you are intentionally replacing it. I don't know if mac works the same way (yaboi, your input?) | |
