I'm fairly sure I remember a friend of mine actually having a copy of it on laser disc. Same guy went on to own an SNK Neo Geo console .... only person I know that had one. CRAZY expensive carts for that!!!

Nope, Was a public game and was played extensively on a sub for Officer training. Also against departments.

Funny, I am surprised that a public game could be used as a training tool for the Navy.
I though the Navy had all necessary internal resources to develop much more advanced software in-house and would therefore disregard such public softwares.

That was it. It was used at first as is. Then a program was written (not public) along the same lines that was MUCH more powerful. The gaming world was in it's infancy then and not developed like is commonplace today. The potential was seen and exploited.

I guess you had the opportunity to play this new non public version of the game?
