I think brutes rated highly on this scale would be the best. But you can use it to compare brutes of any kind.
All brutes start with 0 points.

+1 point for having any of these weapons (Flail, Epee, Sai, Whip, Hammer, Shuriken/bowl/peiu)
+1 point for best weapon set up of 3 weapons (Heavy, Disarm, Thrown)
+1 point for bear/wolf
+1 point for having 3 pets
+1 point for increvable
+1 point for immortal
+1 point for implacable
+1 point for armor
+1 point for martial arts
+1 point for thief
+1 point for having any disarm skill (tet,choc,vandal)
+1 point for shield/counter combo
+1 point for defensive weapon + shield combo
+1 point for meditation/sang chaud combo
+1 point for feline agi/untouchable combo
+1 point for herculean str/martial arts combo
+1 point for immortal/vitality combo
+1 point for frappe/meditation combo
+1 point for epee or knife or sword or scimitar or halberd /MOA combo
+1 point for coffee mug/martial arts combo
+1 point for net/fierce brute/heavy weapon combo
+1 point for having any stat over 25
+1 point for having 2 or more basic stat boosters at same time (herc str, feline, frappe)


-1 point for having bumps/massue
-1 point for deluge
-1 point for having life over 200 + increvable
-1 point for being a ninja with ANY of the counter skills (contre, pugnacious, 6th sense)
-1 point for having net/trappeur combo (unless you have dogs yourself)
-1 point for having any stat less than 4 if you are over lvl 15
-1 point for having thief + choc/vandalisme combo
-1 point for net/bomb combo
-1 point for renforts
-1 point for spy
-1 point for sabotage
-1 point for cuisinier

1. Nothing wrong having both net and trappeur if you yourself has pets.

2. Honestly, remove that one..If you're a certain type of brute you will most likely
stick to the stat that benefits you most, (Untouchable/Feline wants agi etcetc)

The only reason you'd take any other stat is if you're forced to do so (Choice between
+3 speed and bumps for example)

1. Not in my experience, my bear brute had net and trappeur and trust me it worked against him 99% of the time.

2. Yeah you might not want to pick other stats sometimes, but it is a liability if you have 1-3 spd or agi or str and your opponent has like 20+ or defense skills. It makes a huge difference in the fight outcome. A reasonable amount of points in all your stats is necessary to be on top of your game vs. everybody. In this game of rock paper scissors, you want to be a motherfucking battleship.

*my caviat here to #2 is I'm thinking of brutes in their mid-late teens. If your brute is lvl 10 and still hasn't needed to pick +3 spd yet, that's probably just fine... he's probably not winning any tournaments though.

** thanks for reminding me of bumps! that is a -1 point there.

1. Well you have a bear, my trappeur brutes has dogs.. I have net for
wolves/bears and trappeur to eat my own.

2. Still you would never take a secondary stat over your current, at some point
you will probably be forced to do so. But if you want to give -ratings to someone
you should probably base it on lvl and not a fixed amount.

I like the idea, but I think you need something more flexible than just +1 for various things. Certain combos are really potent. For instance, I think you should add +1 for shield, +1 for contre, but a brute with both can be really deadly, so you'd want to add an additional +1 for having both. But you'd want an additional +1 for having a blocking weapon like sai or baton when you have both shield and contre. You get into the same threshold situation with martial arts where it isn't a very big deal until you get a certain amount of strength and then it's killer.

Is it even possible to have more than 2 basic stat boosters? I can't think of a brute that has 3. Katgirl has herc/vitality/immortal, but immortal is different. Oh, and if you're going to give +1 for vitality/immortal, you should give +1 for frappe/meditation. I also think you're giving short shrift to stats in this scheme, you should give +1 for each stat over 12 and +2 for each stat over 24, +3 for each stat over 36. Any stat over 50 you get -1 for showing off. Wink

Add scimitar to the list of +1 for MoA and give +1 for having mug/martial arts. Give +1 for fierce brute/marteau-pilon combo.

Be sure to give -1 for net/bomb combo and -1 for having the massue; give -1 for renforts, cuisinier, espion, or sabotage.

I agree with you teethy, that is ideal, but if we start doing that it gets too complicated.

I originally only wanted to have a list of 10 +1s, to keep it simple ... and look how complicated it has already gotten >_<

It would be cool to have a little calculator program that would do it for you...

More of what I mean -- vandalisme and choc are skills which potentially amplify every hit, so anything that gives you extra hits like 6th sense, pugnacious, tornado, or contre, high speed or multiple attack weapons, improves the effects of all three. Combine disarming skills with armor and peau, more synergy. So a skill like 6th Sense is kinda crap, but combine it with choc, whip, and armor and suddenly it's devastating, you can just sit there with a speed of 2 and nobody can get you.

By the way, give -1 for the Deluge skill and ninjas with 6th Sense or Pugnacious too. In fact, I would go so far as to give -1 to ninjas with marteau-pilon or voleur, but +1 to ninjas with MA.

You also need to take a look at those skills that are "activated" by stats, in other words that amplify existing stats. MA and MoA and marteau-pilon are so much better with sufficient strength, Untouchable and Tornado are so much better with sufficient agility. But with crap stats, those skills are also crap.
