Okay, looking again at the top few brutes. Brut4l leveled again and took Endurance/Force I think. Much needed boost to him. Katgirl is the same. Noemie is looking pretty good and so is rush.

Adrien69 is too weak on offense, unless he steals a really good weapon he doesn't have enough offense to take out his opponents. His agility isn't good enough to get near the other untouchables. AngeLudo is one shield away from being elite, but with rapidity of 3, forget it.

Noemie could net/FB/flail just about anyone to death except for Katgirl, but more likely she'll draw the flail and get chopped up by a faster brute. Nephelia has nothing to stop an untouchable, and there's too many of them at the top, she won't make the quarters. Kemkem must have experimented with her destiny cause she's lame now.

But I have to put my chips somewhere, so I pick... Brut4l. His 6th sense and untouchable keep them all away, he picks them apart with his weapons, and tete-de-fer keeps the sais and knives off. Only a lucky combo will take him out.

Hum, Rush is interesting but I think he is too frail to win the tourney.

There is a lot of luck in tete de fer. I remember once when I took around 12 hits without disarming.

Still rooting for Katgirl, the best kitty in the game.

It's starting!!! Luponero is not in the tourney, he's still Hemogrobil, but the tourney is counting down. Someone else must have jumped in. Looks like SuperCarrio has made it to Sabre, so it must have been him.

PunchDrunk is up against Katgirl in the first round, against whom he has basically no chance. Sad

When she crushes him, she'll take on either truque or Fauvette, both of whom I beat yesterday.

Lupobianco is up against Silent, that's an even match, but the winner faces Noemie or tanya.

Brut4l and adrien69 drew each other in the first round! Ho boy, that's a huge loss for one of them and a huge first round victory for the other. The winner has nearly a clear path to the quarters except for djanfi who sucks for a level 24 brute.

steele011 is a lucky SOB for drawing the only level 3 brute Lloyd Irving! Grumble. Then he gets to play victim to Kemkem. Hello Kitty ends up in the easiest bracket, but draws the toughest brute in it, Spiral Tribe who will probably walk away with the whole quarter. He's only level 16 but he's the highest level in the quarter.

So we basically have one quarter with nobody in it; one quarter with rush, xcpistou, and kemkem, the winner of which will own that entire half; one quarter with Noemie, AngeLudo, tanya, Nephelia, and Katgirl (and PunchDrunk and lupobianco getting ground up in the middle) and one quarter with the winner of Brut4l vs. adrien69 to face whoever comes out of the meat grinder. Not feeling so bad about my pick now!

Spiral Tribe is tough, I avoid him. Vitalite, shield/contre, net, thief, master of arms, morningstar/glaive. With your low stats... sorry. I've got about as much chance of beating Katgirl.

Lupobianco got the best draw, at least it's a fair fight. steele011 drew the weakest brute but at those low levels who really knows, he could throw his knife early and get punched down.

Spirit is 7 levels higher. I will lose maybe except if I choc all our weapons. But I don't dream^^".

Also, steele011 won his fight, the only one of us to advance to round 2.

Basically, no upsets anywhere in the tournament except for Brut4l's loss. Suzy-one beat Babaa but that's not really an upset despite the 5-level difference, because suzy-one is a great brute and Babaa is a joke. Wings beat Zinette but they're pretty closely matched. Actually, anthony813 got beat bad by Brocliande, that's an upset. There are a few other cases of lower levels beating higher, but nothing dramatic.

brutal's achilles heel is not having choc isn't it
knocking off the opponent's shield is a big deal in a fight
especially if they are built around being a counterattcker

Grizz, I think you're right. Tete-de-fer doesn't work on shields (neither does vandalisme or thief for that matter) and shield is so important, especially for contre brutes, that choc really does stand above the others. If it had been adrien losing his shield, completely different fight. But props to mantis for calling it.

Edit: also notice how important rapidite is in the final punch-down! Brut4l only had to hit him 5 times, but Adrien attacked so much more often, even without counting the contre. Also also! If Brut4l's spear attack had done 25 damage instead of 24, Brut4l would have won handily, but the increvable meant Adrien had that 1 endurance point left for the last 7 exchanges!

I think that adrien69 has no chance against Katgirl, but Katgirl has to beat Nephelia and then the winner of Noemie vs. AngeLudo in order to get to the semis. Boy if she does win it all, she will have beaten those two, Adrien69, and either rush or xcpistou, I can't imagine a harder path that doesn't go through Brut4l. If rush or xcpistou win it, it'll be because they won just 2 tough fights; Adrien, 3 tough fights; Katgirl, 4 tough fights, and Noemie would only win after 5 tough fights. I may have to root for Noemie now because that kind of win would be epic.

The main event in the match is the loss of Brut4l's shield and then Adrien has a lot of luck :)
