Angelus Amo hasn't gotten this far in a tourney before. Thief is really nice. Doesn't incur the wait penalty when stealing a heavy weapon. Thank you seed gods :)

She's doing quite well against the hyper agiles. The one I'm having the most trouble with is chinskillz. Who is quite similar (Str/Agi), though she's got the edge with the higher agility.

It's the Str/Agi vs the hyper agiles. I'm awaiting the next postings.

I am somewhat amazed at how well the Str/Agi brutes (Angelus and chinskillz) have gone this time around. These type of brutes (like Fynca, PerfectLuminous, Vortex maria, etc.) have mostly had a terrible run in tournaments lately. I wonder why this time is different?

Other than the lucky seeds, here are my thoughts why:

This type of tourney tests the best overall, with this specific tourney having a wide variation of brutes at high levels, instead of just hyper agiles. With just hyper agiles, it's who has the highest agility that wins.

At the lower levels without many skills; Strength and pets seem the best. Mid range, with more brutes having more powerful skills like Implacable and untouchable, Hyper Agiles rule. But when we get to the really high levels over 400, there's an even bigger difference in strength, which often proves more advantageous than the difference in agility when having implacable. Angelus Amo was able to take a hyper agile out with one attack with fierced fists, not going to happen the other way around.

There's other factors. With a non-hyper agile, need special skills to make up the agility disadvantage. Hypnosis for the pets. Hammer and Deluge for unavoidable hits, and thief to make up the speed difference and at the same time make the parryless opponent much easier to hit. With seeds that uses these specials more often, the tide has turned

I fully agree. Stsin VI is still my favorite early brute. She has crappy stats, but has the ability to win against anyone, even at the same level Not most of the time, but some of the time which is good enough for me. I expect to see the differences lessen with higher levels, and especially when she finally gets Bolt of Lightening improving her stats greatly. I still believe Str/Speed/implacable is better, but this tourney may have changed my views slightly.

Of course, the disadvantage of non-hyper agiles is that more people can beat them, even crappy brutes, than the hyper agiles.
