Worst anti virus program

I tried a lot of different programs but they all turned out to be really bad >_<
now I unfortunately need a new again (the one I'm using at the moment is causing too much trouble )
so my question is:
which is in your opinion the worst anti virus program and why?

My opinion is
- Norton Antivirus
and
- G data antivirus/Internetsecruity

are the worst anti virus programs I ever tried


Norton: because it couldn't find all viruses I had on my pc (found only about 10%)
and finding viruses is the main job of an anti virus program :|

G data anti virus: because it makes the pc really slow
the normal function of finding viruses is ok but with the boot cd (is included) it's much better
the problem is the boot cd can't do updates and new kinds of viruses can't be discovered
also the program is too carefully. It sometimes indicated normal datas as virus and put them into quarantine

G data internet security:
sometimes it workes really well
but sometimes it makes the pc very slow
It has many functions but only a few of them are useful and lots of them are annoying
like the function "Internet" I had to turn it off because it blocked all kinds of graphic
or the feature "shredder" which should delete datas completely
I never use it because when you click on it, it sometimes deletes the data (which is his function) or ususlly it doesn't and nothing happens
And I really don't know if the "firewall" feature is working :|
now I've got the problem that this program says that his "virensignaturen" are out of dates and now it stops working
(now I don't have a anti virus program )

I agree about Norton which deserved to be the King in terms of stability issues and resource hog... such a heavy thing that screwed up my registry and I had to reinstall the OS... but that was about 5 years ago. In the meantime I have switched to Kaspersky (non free) and M$ Security Essentials (free even for companies).
I have found out this site to be very useful in terms of antivirus comparisons though (free and non free antiviruses).

i have BitDefender 2010 and think that is a decent antivirus,what do you think sioc about it?

I have tested out recently Avast! (free), AVG (free), Avira (free), Kaspersky and M$ (free), all of them were imo pretty user-friendly and didn't eat too much resources. Just depends on your needs. Of course I just tested as a "end-user". Avira, Avast! and M$ were imo the best free user-friendly ones.
Was using BitDefender as well and was satisfied with it but that was quite a few years ago so I couldn't tell much about the 2010 release ;-)

But most important is probably not to have a single antivirus but a combination of a resident one and at least one on-demand removal tool like SpyBot-Search&Destroy for example.

I'd have to agree about Norton being the worst, huge resource hog as Sioc said. I used to have it on an older computer and eventually it would take 15-20 min. just to load on start-up. I've been using McAfee since, way less of a drag, but have considered going to Avast considering the near universal praise it receives. also run Spybot Search and Destroy.

I also recommend MS Essentials.

I remember Norton back in my Windows 95 days. It was worse than having a virus. Also requiring a Windows reinstall to completely remove and have not dared to touch again since. I'm boggled that they can keep selling it through all these years.

I'm happy with Kaspersky Internet Security.

I use NOD32 (business edition) and Trojan Remover...

I use Avast (4.8 version) and recently I use "SpyBot Search and Destroy". Also Win 7 has a "Windows Defender" which keeps your computer completely safe !

i used to have norton cause it came free with my pc
but now i use trand mivro internet security

Kaspersky? 0.0 i tryed it - real sux....
when u ask him scan my PC, he do it, and results of course NO virus's BUT if scan PC by another antivirus program u will get alot negative results, be sure....
i test it on my PC

agree with u, try something another then Kasper and norton& g data

i use bitdefender 2010 for windows 7..its great..i dont have problems

I use kaspersky '10

Pirated AVG is the best, it is fully active untill 2018 for free <3

I hate Norton... grr... Heaviest anti virus ever..
Now I'm using Avira Antivir... It detects most viruses and It is a light antivirus..
