PostSubject: Router Question   Router Question Icon_minitimeSat 13 Feb 2010, 03:08

My ISP sent me a router when I ordered their internet package. Can i buy my own separate router and switch it out with my existing router without affecting my internet?

Thanks!

Check with your ISP if it is compatible.

I am guessing since you and others have said this, there is NO absolute guarantee that any specific router can take the place of my existing router. I will check with my ISP....

Thanks :)

Go to a hardware store and tell them you're looking for a new router, they're bound to know your ISP and may well have knowledge of what well/not goes.
If a router doesn't work even though they advise you to buy it you will be able to get a refund and get a new router.
