| Hello people! I've made this topic in order to help us intermediate BC users to make our pupils faster and without the usual problems that the average BC user does. From time to time I've red some tips/hints/tweaks that one can apply to make it's BC work faster or work with no problems at all. We would all be grateful if the advanced BC users could help us with their tips or tricks they apply to BC to make it better. Let's share our knowledge so we can become better :study: Note to moderators: This isn't to be merged with the bc topic cause it'll be a mess. Let this exist as a separata topic please.

| Hmmm let's make the beggining...
Sometimes when try to make the Combats of your pupils but BC acts like you've already done them (though you didn't). This happens cause BC has it's own clock or something like this...
To solve this problem, simply change your PC date to some days ahead. If it still doesn't work change it a year or two ahead. For example 2010 or 2011.
Note: Be careful not to forget to switch back the date cause it will conflict with other programs like MSN!
Enjoy | |

On my oponion that's the wrong way, because from then you have to change the date everytime you train your pupils ... I would prefer to set the date in BC-Database to yesterday or the day before yesterday, this has only be done one time and everything works fne in future greetz Master of BC-Databases Eumigen

| I never tried going backwards. I just made an extra copy, went a day forward, and deleted the copy run on the spoofed date when it was done. I'll have to try that next time. thanks, eumigen
Edit: I tried it, and it just skips the fights because putting it as yesterday or even two days ago makes bc think 24 hours has not passed since the last time the fights were run... I'll stick with running the day's fights at the proper date, then making a copy and running again with the copy to make sure all fights were done and then delete that copy...

| I don't alter any clocks when running combats.
I always run combats against a COPY of the data folder(s).
That way you can run it as many times as you want and it's always fresh. :)

| Tip for you:
Always run the combats two or three times after the initial run. I find that a few of the pupils go un-fought on the first run so I always run "Combats" until there are no more pupils leveling.

| Once you have 10+ folders with 10,000 odd brutes in each, that approach is no longer practical!
I used to do that, but I don't any more ..... too many pupils!

Cps. Sometimes the data folder gets corrupt and the BC won't train all you pupils. You will eliminate that problem with a back-up copy of your data folder.

Also, I misconstrued Bob's reply. He doesn't modify any clocks, he uses a back-up copy of his data folder. The folder doesn't have any memory of the combats you just ran on your working copy so the back-up, aka "always fresh," copy will run the combats again. I also use this technique.

| Before you run the combats, make a copy of it. Run the original, then replace it with the copy and run again.
I keep a copy of the data that I last ran combats, but I don't use for the next day because I usually create more pupils on the working copy. I make a copy right before I run the combats then repeat the steps in the first paragraph.

| What is the point of making a copy of the data before you run it? I don't understand that part. | |

It's the most updated data file that does not have that day's combats completed. Unless you have a data file that you do not create new pupils on, then you don't have to keep creating new copies.

| When a folder hits 10,000 pupils. I store it and start a new one.
When I run combats every day, I always run them from copies of my stored folders, and copies of my current folder.
This way, BC's internal 24 hour memory isn't an issue.
If I run combats at 11pm one day, I can run them at 11am the next day without a problem.
It also means if I need to do a re-run for any reason, it's not a problem.

| With my current folder, I just take a copy of it, run combats, then delete it.
Next day I just take a fresh copy.
I don't bother about trying to beat the BC 24 hour clock with new pupils. Not worth the hassle ... they'll get picked up in the next run so it's no big deal if thats a day later as far as I'm concerned.
I just find it's always better to run from a copy whenever I run any combats. That way if I do need to re-run for any reason, it's never a problem.

| Bob mentioned this long ago and I've been doing that ever since. Thanks.
I usually copy over all my data during TM.
Since I run combats only on the copies, my original data files aren't being trained. And if look at it's statics, thinks they are all still level 1.
Another advantage is if have multiple connections, run all the combats on the fastest one, while still making pupils with the rest.

| has anyone tried making an extra full copy of bc so you can run two different files through combats at the same time? considering it takes me about eight hours per day to run combats on my computer running one file at a time based on my connection and re-running each file 2-3 times, I figured I'd try two at once. I don't see much slowdown in the operation, so it looks like it runs faster overall. I will update when I am done running all my data. | |
