- no, you can only do it the empiric way, either str increases the percentage, or it's fully dependant on shield & weaponpercentage. only one thing's for certain, any statsinfluence on blocking is only supportive, it needs to have skill/weaponsupport, whereas dodging/multihit & amount of rounds work as standalone with agi & spd, they need no support (untoucheable) to get active
I agree with you finally on method at least. 1 thing though: brutes without weapons/shields can block attacks. (I will insert an example here as soon as I see it again). That does point to the fact that blocking is influenced by a basic stat like STR (unless you have some small blocking % at all times). I say that IF str affects blocking %, then brutes with higher str should show an increased % of blocking attacks that aren't dodged. It should hold true across the board and is probably noticeable in the way that high (25+) Agility leads to noticeable % increase in dodging. Link to fights in this thread that show this noticeable increase.

| This could be a fluke, but it is the only +25str/shield brute match I have been able to find so far. It does not support that str affects blocking.
http://labrute.muxxu.com/fight/40528621?chk=f63f 10str vs 27str with 0/4 blocked

| this blocking thing its really weird i dont get it. At least on the original mybrute, my 206 level got blocked today like 9-10 times by the opponent's shield, and has almost 90 of strenght + impact. o_o | |

| We can't talk about original mybrute here because they tweaked things for this version! - xteenager wrote:

I might have to take this back. I have been watching a lot of fights and I beleive I am mistaken. I must have been thinking of brutes w/ weapon equipped blocking (w/o shield). Brutes with nothing equipped never block.

| With a lance or baton, there are clearly more chances of using the shield to block. Also, there are some brutes who hold the shield on their side and some who hold the shield in front of their faces, i dont know if this affects the blocking or not. | |

http://labrute.muxxu.com/fight/23113791?chk=22a0 From Stsin's parry thread, the brute has counter and blocks a hit from the epee.

oooh nice one! So now we know counter for sure adds a block %. But what about the STR? that guy only had 4 str and the attacker 12.

| Since nobody asked, here's my pet theory. Every brute has hidden stats -- we now know about init, and I believe there's one for dodge, block, and counter as well. These provide base chances for those things and they're modified by stuff like weapons, skills, and stats, and an important modifier is level. This would explain why some brutes are just genius with the shield and others never seem to use it, no matter what the stats may be. These brutes just have a naturally high/low block %, which makes them naturally better with the shield.
However, if this is true, I doubt there's any way to empirically test it unless you can do a series of fights between two equally equipped/statted brutes and see who blocks more. But if it's your brute, and you notice it blocks a lot, that's a sign you should be looking for defensive weapons and skills.

| Yeah, it's too bad this version has no way to set up test fights.
I've said it elsewhere but I think that these hidden stats aren't connected to the brute, but to the weapons themselves.

| Obviously there's a connection with weapons. The said HELPS blocking a lot. The epee is easily BLOCKED. | |
