ok, I ran a name test with a fresh db to see which names work in the converter. ... Hi bamb@m, it should work in the actual version if you take the linkname, but the next version is nearly finished, I think this evening after work it should be released New features: 1. convert Brute Names with special char to propper Names (as listed by bamb@m) 2. creates file for automatic INSERT into BC-Database (automaticly created SQL-Statements ) If other replaces needed just post here! - bamb@m wrote:
and, for inputting the names into the bc db, even if it is manual, you can put in more than one at a time like the other guy did (sorry, I don't have that page open to name him), you can do it this way:
Insert into Brutes (Name,Level,Password) Values(X'encryptname1',lvl,'pass'); Insert into Brutes (Name,Level,Password) Values(X'encryptname2',lvl,'pass'); Big THANX for that hint, will be implemented in point 2 for fast Instering have to go to work now ... cya Eumigen

| did you really just put "jdbc:derby:C:\"PATH of my Directory"\data\db" or did you add the extra "\" at the end that it requires to look inside the db folder?
the actual path should be "jdbc:derby:C:\"PATH of my Directory"\data\db\" and then it will have access to your db folder. but be warned, editing the db files you use for creation/combats can have serious consequences. I recommend using another folder, so you can use duplicates for modification instead of the originals. here's mine:
C:\.....\Desktop\brutal-combo-1.2.00\data\db\bc data edit\
in other words, it's still inside the db, but it's inside another folder so bc can't see it directly, and sql can't directly edit my creation db.

| of course i added the "\" at the end and i just try to edit a copy of the data folder. but still i get this error. ok here are the steps i did: 1. Edited the Apache Derby Embedded Driver: - Edit
- Extra Class Path
- Added the derby.jar file out of the lib folder from BC
- List Drivers
- Chose "org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver"
- OK
2. Edit the Alias - Create new Alias
- entered an alias name
- as driver i chose the Apache Derby Embedded Driver i edited before
- entered a random username + password
now the Test run works but if i want to connect to the database i get that error.

| Don't use a username nor password.
Does the derby driver shows a blue check mark on the left?
Building an alias you have to edit the path to the database as well: jdbc:derby:<database>[;create=true] => jdbc:derby:C:\Programme\BC_Test\data\db for example if BC i located in the folder BC_Test under C:\Programme

if yes: what do i have to do there ? No, only the path to the db is needed. I don't know if it makes any difference but delete the last backslash in your path

| I believe the backslash is not needed also. Was thinking of making a video on how I setup to connect. But I need my desktop back. | |

| Of course it isn't needed, but I don't know if it does any harm. Edit: Just tested it, makes no difference here if it's there or not. | |

| Did you follow these advices? A video? Not really needed. There are just a few simple steps. 1. Configure the derby driver - Spoiler:
From the link above: - Quote :
- Configuring the Derby Embedded Driver in the Drivers window
Select the Apache Derby Embedded option from the Drivers window and click the pencil icon, which allows you to Modify the Selected Driver. We need to point to the location of the derby.jar file on the file system, which contains the Derby Embedded Driver. Click the Extra Class Path tab, and then the Add button. Browse to this directory and select derby.jar. On my machine I browsed to C:\derby_home\derby_10.1.3\lib\derby.jar.
Now, click the List Drivers button and the Class Name pulldown list will be automatically populated. Select the Class Name of org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver from the list and click OK.
Don't modify the Example URL in the Drivers window since this is just a listing of available drivers, and does not represent a connection to a specific database. That is what the Aliases window is for. Now you should be returned to the main desktop of SQuirreL and if the driver was added successfully, you will see this message in the status window, with green highlighting;
Driver class org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver successfully registered for driver definition: Apache Derby Embedded
Also, there should be a blue check mark next to the Apache Derby Embedded listing in the Drivers window now.
(Screenshot) 2. Create an alias (Screenshot) 3. Double click the alias => Connect, that's it :) Took me less than three minutes.

Yep as BC doesn't store the masters this row is always empty. - Quote :
- is it also possible to delete brutes out of the db ?
of course - Code:
-
DELETE * FROM brutes WHERE level <= 1 Deletes all brutes which are deleted in the meantime (level = 0) plus deletes all brutes with level = 1. Useful if you have only COM opponents in your list to delete skimming pupils from different sides (ES/FR). CAUTION! Use this only after you have trained your db at least two times, not the same day you created new pupils!
And always work on a backup if you're new to this stuff.

| an example: i want to delete the brute with "name": dd ec 4f 3c 99 1e 10 4b ee 38 3a 11 25 cb dc 89 ef there are all just examples how to delete brutes with a specific level. delete from brutes where name = dd ec 4f 3c 99 1e 10 4b ee 38 3a 11 25 cb dc 89 ef does not work how does it look like ? €dit: ok to delete brutes with their ids is easier than with the name | |

| You cannot delete brutes based on their names that way. Some data type conversion is required before. Didn't figure out how to do it yet.
If you delete by ID, just a reminder to be careful because you may have several brutes with the same ID in your DB.

| Sorry, I was'nt online for since Sunday evening, so I missed to answer to this Question/Problem ... Sure yiu can delete Pupils by the name. Try this: - Code:
-
Delete From Brutes Where Name = 'cbe30766924c1305b02232132ae2f5' As you can see, you have to delete the blanks and put the name in apostrophe. And to the prob wit Squirrel, I think you made a mistake by the creation of the Driver Reference, there isa option like craete=true, if you use this, Squirel tries to create a new Database ... it must have been something like this ...
